It’s time to update your prescription and, while you know you need to spend good money to get great eyewear, you just don’t have all that much cash right now. Here’s what you do. Go to your eye doctor and get a new prescription. Then, take that prescription and walk out of the doctor’s office. That’s right. You’re not going to be doing business with the brick-and-mortar retail outfit. You’re going online.
Shopping Online
If you’ve never purchased glasses for women or men from online stores, then my friend, you’re in for a treat. However, if you have, you know the deal. A lot of people overlook shopping online, especially when it comes to eyewear, because they can’t physically try on the frames before they buy. Admittedly, this is a bit scary. What if you buy something that just doesn’t fit your face well?
There’s a solution for that. Many online companies allow you to upload a photo of yourself, with facial measurements, and then virtually fit yourself with new frames. It’s not exactly like setting them on your face at the doctor’s office, but it will give you an idea of what to expect.
In many cases, the companies offer a generous return or exchange policy just in case the frames don’t fit.
Using Coupon Codes
Not every company offers coupon codes, but many do. Let’s say that you’re in the market for lenses. You visit Lenstore.co.uk, or some other online retailer, and have a look around. OK, you see the retail prices. Now what? Well, what you need to do is hop on over to Google.com and start searching for discount codes. More specifically, you need to start searching for coupon aggregators.
What’s an aggregator? It’s a site that scours the Internet for you and consolidates and organizes all of the available coupons on the web. Typically, these sites use a custom search engine to help you sort through all of the available coupons.
A lot of the coupons will have a digital code associated with them. So, all you have to do is grab the code and insert it into the coupon redemption box at checkout. But not all coupons come with codes. Some of them are embedded in links. That’s OK. Just click on the link on the aggregator’s site.
It’ll forward you to the online eyewear company’s website so you can purchase what you need. The discount code will be embedded in the URL (the web address), so make sure it’s there before you make your purchase.
Getting Special Offers
Before you pay for your items, check to see if there’s a discount for buying in bulk or for spending a certain dollar amount. For example, when you buy contact lenses online, many companies will discount the lenses if you buy more than a certain number of boxes or if you spend a minimum dollar amount on your purchase.
Another discount is free shipping. Again, companies will typically offer you free shipping on orders when you pass over a spending threshold. You might be just a few dollars away from free shipping, so make sure you’re getting everything you can. In some cases, the shipping alone could be worth an extra box of contacts.
